Supporting adolescents and their lives ahead

Adolescents living with HIV experience unique challenges especially during life transitions, often leading to lapses in treatment adherence.  To help, FACES facilitated an engaging Adolescent Transition Workshop in Kisumu for those transitioning from primary school to secondary school and from secondary school to college. The workshop centered on continuity of care, treatment adherence for sustained viral load suppression, and life skills to cope in their new environment. Life experiences were shared by students already in high school and college, there was an interactive session on coping skills, and a plenary discussion. Messages through music, poetry, and drama rounded out the day.
