Promising results from Shamba Maisha project

Shamba participants in trainingOur Shamba Maisha initiative, in partnership with Kickstart InternationalEquity Bank and the local Agrovet in Kisumu, set out to give new economic skills and resources to HIV-positive people in rural Kenya. Each participant receives a small agricultural loan and training in farming skills.

In newly published findings, we show that Shamba Maisha participants not only feel better about themselves, but they also experience less stigma from community members. We look forward to learning more about the potential benefits of this economic approach to helping HIV-positive people not just survive, but thrive, in their communities.
